Developed in conjunction with the micro-biology department at Imperial College, these time-pieces are tiny hypo-barric chamers, coated in a nutritious gel. A live specimen of spores is injected into the chamber as it is inserted into its casing, activating the piece. After three weeks the metamorphosis is complete, all the nutrition consumed. The inital concept was to use the predictable pace of the spores growth-rate to indice the passage of time, but the final result turned out to be little more than a glorified, portable aquarium. Still, the tamagotchi made a whole industry out of making people carry around small lifeforms in their pockets. There might yet be some hope for this one...
